January 2001 – presentDeveloped several shareware titles including the “Music MasterWorks” music composing program, the “In-Tune Multi-Instrument Tuner” and “Calendar Constructer” (musicmasterworks.com). Music MasterWorks includes a highly accurate voice-to-note algorithm that I developed. A version of Music MasterWorks is sold through retail channels by Topics Entertainment.
Programmer/analyst — Krauter Laboratory, University of Colorado
July 2004 – December 2005Designed and implemented a genotype database in Microsoft Access with a MySQL server back-end: a generic system storing patient, sample and genotype data for genetics studies, producing input files for Merlin, a genetic linkage and association analysis package. Also programmed a protein sorting program in Perl using RepeatMasker and FASTA. For other clients at the Institute for Behavioral Genetics I performed microarray and other statistical analysis in the R environment.

July 2003 – September 2003, January 2006 – February 2006Programmed a Microsoft Access database system to run the daily operations of this insurance business.

March 1997 – January 2001Programmed several major sub-systems of the Aastrom Replicell® System, which grows adult stem cells for use in various therapies. Also worked on the Gen-Probe TIGRIS® System, an automated nucleic acid disease testing device, programming the database — a reusable object-oriented interface used by other team members — and sections of the user interface.

August 1995 – August 1996Developed the client side of ‘TravelServer’, a corporate airline reservation system. The system involved asynchronous communications to a local server as well as to the airline reservation host, with complex logic restricting and channeling requests for air, car and hotel reservations for business travelers.

Contract programmer — Express File, Electronic Tax Filing, Ann Arbor, MI
November 1991 – March 1994Responsible for writing multi-user database programs key to Express File’s day-to-day operations: tracking and recording tax returns, I.R.S. transmission and acknowledgment updating, and data entry checking. Also generated billing statements and reports that were automatically faxed to customers nation-wide.
